Why Polished Concrete Is Worth It

Polished concrete isn't just about aesthetics, though it certainly looks great. It's one of the most practical, versatile, and long-lasting flooring solutions available.

Here's why our residential and commercial clients across Davis, Weber, and Salt Lake counties keep choosing it:

  • Exceptional durability – The multi-layer grinding process that creates a polished floor also makes it incredibly hard and dense. The result is a surface that’s built to withstand heavy foot traffic, vehicle weight, and daily wear without showing its age.
  • Easy to clean – That smooth, even surface means dirt, dust, and spills sit on top rather than settling into crevices. A quick mop is usually all it takes to clean polished concrete.
  • Slip-resistant – Despite its polished appearance, this flooring style is actually considered more slip-resistant than other smooth, hard surfaces, making it a smart choice for high-traffic areas like garages and commercial spaces.
  • Healthier air quality – Polished concrete floors are free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), harmful chemicals released by some other flooring materials. They also don't collect dust or allergens, making them an excellent option for anyone dealing with allergies or asthma.
  • Flood and spill resistant – The silicate densifier used during the polishing process reduces the porosity of the concrete, meaning moisture has a much harder time penetrating the surface. In most cases, a polished concrete floor can weather a flood without needing repair.
  • Environmentally friendly – Polished concrete lasts so long that it can significantly reduce lifetime flooring waste. It also absorbs heat during the day and releases it at night, helping regulate temperature in garages and other spaces.

What’s Involved in Concrete Polishing?

To polish concrete, we complete a multi-step grinding process. Using progressively finer grinding tools, we work through multiple layers of the concrete surface, removing imperfections and establishing a smooth, even finish. Then, we employ a silicate densifier to harden and seal the concrete from within, reducing porosity and dramatically increasing its resistance to moisture and wear.

The result is a floor with a reflective sheen that enhances the natural look of the concrete while dramatically boosting the amount of light in the space.
